How to Care for Your Aluminum Cuff Bracelet
Learn how to care for your aluminum cuff bracelet and keep it looking like new and find out why aluminum is a safe option for people with metal allergies. Plus, learn the correct way to put your bracelet on and store it when you are not wearing it.
So you love your new cuff bracelet and are now wondering how to care for it. First let’s talk about the material your bracelet is made with. My sister and I use the highest quality, commercial grade food safe aluminum for our bracelet blanks. Over the years we have used several manufacturers, but, the bracelet blanks we use now are by far the best out of them all.
This is why we love them:
Our cuff bracelets are tumbled and completely deburred.
They are made out of 12 gauge aluminum meaning they are very durable and strong.
They are 100% made in the USA.
Our bracelets have rounded edges which makes the bracelet more comfortable to wear.
They are lightweight and have a nice shine.
We source our blanks from a small business and we love supporting them!
We often get asked the question if this is a safe metal to use if you have metal sensitivity or allergies?
The answer is YES!!! Aluminum does not contain nickel or lead and is actually a better choice than sterling silver when it comes to metal allergies. PLUS, it will not tarnish!!! Or turn your wrist green. Yuck. The only negative is that Aluminum can slowly corrode over time when consistently exposed to water. So, we highly suggest that you do not wear your bracelet while swimming or showering.
How do you store your bracelet when you’re not wearing it?
As with any jewelry, it’s very important to keep your bracelet clean and dry. As far as where to store your bracelet, if you wear it every day, keep it out on your nightstand, dresser, jewelry stand, or tuck it away in a drawer until you are ready to wear it again. The key is to store it in a place that is free from humidity. If you get your bracelet wet, just dry it thoroughly and it should be just fine. If you are looking for more tips on where and how to store your jewelry, check out this informative article by Life Storage Blog.
And finally, believe it or not, there is a right way to put on your cuff bracelet and a wrong way.
When you put your bracelet on, turn your wrist to the side and slide the opening of the cuff bracelet over the side of your wrist.
Should you need to tighten your cuff bracelet, never squeeze from the top!!! This will give it a domed look and misshape your bracelet. Instead, flip your wrist over so that you are looking at the ends of the bracelet.
To tighten, gently press in on the ends of the bracelet until you get the desired fit.
When it’s time to remove the bracelet, simply reverse the process.

How to Clean An Aluminum Cuff Bracelet
Learn how to quickly restore the lettering on your metal stamped cuff bracelet and renew its shine in this easy to follow step by step tutorial.
My sister and I absolutely love designing and creating hand stamped bracelets and necklaces. Nothing makes us happier than encouraging women and providing them with a visual reminder of truth and how much they are loved throughout their day.
Together, we have been creating jewelry for the past fifteen years and metal stamping is by far our favorite thing to do. Metal Stamping allows us to use our creativity with endless possibilities. We often get custom orders from our customers asking us to stamp a special saying or quote and it’s not unusual for us to receive messages from our customers years later saying how much they still love their bracelet.
Which inevitably leads to this question,
“How do we get our bracelet looking like new again?”
That’s why we decided that this article was way overdue.
So you love your hand stamped bracelet but you’ve noticed that it has lost it’s shine and the lettering is beginning to fade.
What should you do?
After all, you wear your bracelet every. single. day.
As much as we take special care to ensure each bracelet is polished and perfect for our customers, we cannot prevent daily wear and tear over time.
But there is a solution!!! (for most bracelets)
Our bracelets are made with high quality, 12 gauge 1100-0 pure food safe aluminum. This means our hand stamped cuff bracelets are strong, durable, and easy to clean. Plus, aluminum is great for people with metal sensitivity and is less reactive to skin than sterling silver.
Let’s go over the items you will need to restore and clean up your bracelet.
First, we use Sharpie Ultra Fine Point Markers to fill in the lettering on our bracelets. There are other products out there that can be used such as enamel paint pens, but we have found Sharpie Markers to be the easiest to use and clean up.
Next, you will need Rubbing Alcohol to clean up the ink from the Sharpie Marker. Now this is a special announcement for all the Type A personalities out there…it’s ok to make a mess!!!! Because Rubbing Alcohol will clean it up. However, I know most Type A’s will try their best to stay in the lines and that’s ok too. We do recommend using over 90% proof rubbing alcohol only because if you use lesser proof than this, you will have to rub the ink longer.
Finally, we use Sunshine Polishing Cloths to shine up our cuff bracelets. We prefer these polishing cloths over others because they just do an awesome job removing any left over ink and it gives the bracelet a nice shine. You can use them over and over again until the entire cloth turns black.

Here is a step by step guide to clean your bracelet.
Supplies you will need:
Rubbing Alcohol (preferably over 90% proof)
Paper towels
Sunshine Polishing Cloth or jewelers polishing cloth
Step by step guide to clean your bracelet:
Fill in the lettering with your fine tip sharpie maker. (this is where we give you permission to go out of the lines!!!)
Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto the paper towel and clean the entire bracelet.
Polish the bracelet with the Sunshine Polishing Cloth.
These steps can be used for brass and copper bracelets too.
Voila! Your bracelet is now clean and shiny.

Pictured above is a picture taken Carrie Homewood Photography from our last photo shoot located in our new studio. We absolutely love having a place to call our own!!! Our studio is light and airy featuring nearly indestructible, white quartz countertops with flecks of blues, greys, and a touch of sparkle. Our island is Amish made here in Middlefield, Ohio using plank style wood to create this fabulous workspace for my sister and I. Of course we had to bring in some bling with a crystal chandelier centered directly above our workspace! We also created a sitting area with super comfy chairs that you just sink into where we can create all our crochet accessories. This space is such a blessing. Here we can design, create, and offer a beautiful, comfortable space to meet with our customers.
